The Pantheon

The pantheon of the continent has amalgated from various religious pantheons of its inhabitants. Humans have always had a tendency to mix and match and worship whichever gods they saw fit to pray to for their own benefits whenever hearing of these divine beings. Dwarves focus their attention on their ancestors who are said to battle forevermore against the forces of evil in a battle that shakes the very ground. The approach of the Elves is more agnostic in nature. Other races are inclined to follow in step with the communities around them. That said, fanaticism towards particular divine teachings is not uncommon and the formation of cults to one god or set of gods happens on a daily basis. Membership of cults is generally not mutually exclusive unless there is a conflict of divine interest.

Omnitus, the primordial god from which all else spawned, was a being of chaos. Omnitus cut off his toes and from these the ten Golden Gods formed. They were 5 men: Gordo (the Abyss), Bakko (Death), Yundro (Darkness), Zirko (Matter), Pano (Pain); and 5 women: Lura (Heaven), Meira (Life), Stroppa (the Light), Uthra (Aether), Illka (Passion).
The Golden Gods lived on the plane of existence in ever-moving throes. Their chaos enveloped the world and the world was not at peace. The various interminglings of the gods is a debate of the various cults and the descendants of the Golden Gods differs to varying sources. A handful of them are most agreed upon, however.
This second generation of gods is known as the Silver Gods and they are somewhat more numerous. They were weak compared to their elders and for that they had a hard time to co-exist in this world. They plotted for peace and to do so they had to go to war. All at once they came to Omnitus and slayed the primordial one. Its blood engulfed the world and the Silver Gods cast out their parents into the Void which this blood left. The Void is best described as a plane parallel to the one we are on and the Golden Gods' manipulation of the world is either imperceptible such as the tides of the seas or catastrophic like earthquakes.
The Silver Gods paired and coupled and created the Bronze Gods. From these, many prominent familes claim descendancy and their influence on the lives of the people is not as great as their descendants but these gods still embody aspects of ordinary life such as magic, poetry, love-making, child birth and the like.

The religion of the dwarves does not exclude the above pantheons although many Silver gods are substituted and all Bronze Gods are the founders of clans. Dwarven statues of the Bronze Gods depict them as dwarves and they revere them as heroes and drink to them on as many occassions as they can. Clan names are derived from a feat their Bronze God ancestor performed. Orlo Embermaul slayed a dragon on top of a volcano when his spear broke and he pierced a glowing hot ember with the broken tip and fought in a hail of sparks as the hot volcanic rock hit the scales of the dragon until finally one of the scales broke and Orlo was able to kill the beast.

From the Elven perspective, stories are all fun and games but they prefer to embody the divine qualities that the gods were known for. Elven worship is a very private matter and each decides in a personal interpretation of the oral histories. Many of the stories are passed down from parent to child and so it is often that an elf will be able to tell a lot about one or two gods but very little of anyone else. They may even dismiss any such stories quite quickly preferring to talk about less theological matters.

Eruldon, the Ferryman
Bakko, the Golden God of Death, lay with Lura, the Golden Godess of the Heavens. Their affair resulted in the birth Eruldon who had plotted against the Golden Gods and their primordial ancestor of Omnitus. After the Auromachy, he was ever watchful of the self-righteous attitudes in his cousins and held the belief that their actions had been for self-preservation but should not continue into any murderous intent.

As the descendants of the Bronze Gods learned of their mortality, the bodies were left behind and the souls of the people roamed the world. These restless souls were left confused and bewildered and their wailing echoed in all the gods' ears. It was decreed by the gods that these souls should find peace and be taken care of, as they were their own descendants, after all. Eruldon was the one to find them a place with his mother in the sky, Lura.

There, the souls were calm and peaceful at first but soon they would resort to their old habits and those with criminal intent were wont to disrupt the peace and plotted against the gods who watched over them. Eruldon learned to judge each soul by their actions in life and would separate those wont to disruption. As he ferries the souls across the death river, he would take the fork that leads to the Heavens for those who deserve peace, and he would take the fork into the Void to cast out the souls into the other plane.
